Finally, I can show
you the mini I made for the Modern Quilt Guild
mini swap. Gorgeous isn’t it? Did I want to keep it? You bet!
This was my first
ever swap and while I was expecting it to be a challenge to pick a project it
was made doubly difficult by anxiety and nervousness. My partner, Deb from
Brisbane (@sewologist)
listed as her likes Liberty, linen and Bonnie & Camille fabrics and her
favourite designers as being Sedef Imer and Amy Sinibaldi
amongst others. My first thought was for Amy’s half-hearted pattern (it’s free!) but of course, I went looking for other
options before finally arriving back at my original pick.
I downsized the
original pattern, picked out all my best pink fabrics, and sewed it up.
The finished size
of this quilt is around 23 x 25 inches (from memory) and is quilted using a
serpentine stitch.
Luckily Deb says
she loves it, so I’m relieved and happy to have been part of it.
This is one of my
Finish-Along projects so I will be linking this post up for that.
And while I’ve got
your attention and you’re thinking about how much you’d like to join in the on-line
quilting community here’s a reminder that the sign up for the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers hop is now open.
I was part of this
group last year and it was the best thing! I met some great ladies from all
over the world who have been generous and supportive and who I now count as
friends. There have been opportunities through it, the Bee Inspired group for one, and
it was a real confidence builder for me.
If you meet the
criteria and are still thinking about it make the move NOW! Sign-ups
close on the 28th… read all about it here.
Such a gorgeous mini for your swap - love all the pinks you have chosen. Have you signed up for the NQB again this year?
ReplyDeleteI meant to say congratulations on ticking an item of your FAL list!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. I'm only surprised you could bear to part with it.
ReplyDeleteIt's adorable! I've only done one swap and I was a ball of anxiety on what to do! I didn't get any feedback on likes/dislikes so I just had to make it up as I went along and it was for someone who was pretty well known in the longarming quilting community so I was worried that my skills wouldn't be up to snuff, but it all worked out in the end.
ReplyDeleteAdorable ! Love from Belgium, Carla
ReplyDeleteThankyou Carla!
DeletePretty pretty little hearts! Congrats on your first swap! You did a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet little mini full of pretty little pinks. I'm sure Deb loved it :)
ReplyDeleteOh it is just gorgeous! Lucky Deb!! Makes me want to rush to my craft room and play with all my Amy Sinibaldi fabrics! ❤
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Love the different sizes - it adds such interest. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable mini quilt! So very perfect. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteYour mini is way adorable! I am sure the recipient loves it just as much as you do!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little quilt. You did a great job on it. Thank you so much for sharing the pattern source. I've grabbed it for a future project.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mini! Lucky partner! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow could you possibly worry that someone would not like this? It's adorably awesome.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so fun and happy! Your fabric selection was perfect....somehow it is fun and soft at the same time! Awesome! So glad I found you on My Quilt Infatuation!
ReplyDeleteFeaturing this quilt on Midweek Makers #61 this week - it's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors and the size! How much did you reduce the original pattern by?
ReplyDeleteI had to check my notes but it looks like it went from 6.5 inch height finished to 4.5. That makes it reduced by 69%. Hope this helps!
DeleteFabulous quilt.Love your fabric combo and design!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant little quilt for your first swap. I'd have been thrilled to received something so pretty and I think you captured the essence of Amy Sinibaldi in your colour palette and fabric choices as well as just by using her pattern. On behalf of the 2017 global FAL hosts, thank you for participating in this quarter's FAL.
ReplyDeleteso so cute!! I just adore this one!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and lovely mini ! Your partner is really lucky !
